Roblox Game Development
Convert your child's gaming screen-time into real creative coding skills. In this course, kids aged 8 to 14 learn 3D modeling, spatial mathematics, and coding logic using Roblox Studio and Lua, the scripting language that powers Roblox.
Overview & Description
Roblox is not just a game; it is an entry point into full 3D game design and programming. Rather than just playing, kids use Roblox Studio—the professional development application—to model three-dimensional objects, code gameplay mechanics, and design level structures.
At Algorithmics Omole, students are introduced to Lua scripting, teaching variables, functions, and events. Tutors emphasize multiplayer design, interface design (GUI), and collision handling, culminating in games published to the Roblox platform.
Detailed Curriculum
-
01
Roblox Studio Essentials & 3D Modeling
Learning user interface controls, spawn points, part operations (union, negate), anchoring, and properties.
-
02
Lua Coding Fundamentals
Writing scripts to change properties, using variables, operators, custom functions, and the 'Touched' event handlers.
-
03
Game Loop Logic & GUI
Creating health pads, trap triggers, leaderboards (leaderstats), and UI panels (buttons, coin indicators).
-
04
Monetization & Publishing
Testing multiplayer sessions, packaging sound effects, configuring spawn states, and deploying to the Roblox community.
Learning Outcomes
Spatial Geometry
Manipulate vectors, coordinates (X, Y, Z), and rotational properties in virtual spaces.
Lua Programming
Apply loops, functions, variables, and event listeners within a game loop.
Game Design Principles
Structure levels, configure user experiences, and balance mechanics for engagement.
Sample Student Projects
Multi-Stage Obby (Obstacle Course)
An action obby featuring fading steps, moving traps, custom respawn logic, and checkpoint banners.
Adventure RPG Arena
A battle map where players collect coins, unlock weapons, and fight custom-scripted NPC monsters.
Tycoon Simulator Draft
A basic tycoon builder script where conveyor belts drop items, generating income to purchase upgrades.
